Creative Circles and Curves

Start with knitting a circle and grow your sweater outward to create a one of a kind circular shrug with sleeves. Using colors you love and design as you go methods, you will add layer and layer of curved texture until you are ready to wrap yourself in a circle of delight. You will need to know basic knit skills like cast on, knit, increase and bind off. You will learn how to pick up stitches, knit on stitches, short rows and how to continuously shape a round piece of fabric. A great adventure for those who would like to create a stunning, original, unstructured piece of wearable art.
Silk – From Worm to Wearable Art 
Follow the process of silk production from the seraculture farm to the latest technology as Brecia shares her experiences from a Silk Study Tour in Japan Learn about silk production, a bit of Japanese culture and how she translates her knowledge of silk into wearable art.

This workshop will support you as you explore the realm of creative thinking and knitting to create knitted pieces that are a unique reflection of your individual spirit. You will learn to trust your intuitive choices; Discover your unique style; Claim your confidence as you play with color and texture. All you need are the basic skills — cast on, knit, bind off — you are set.
Felting for Creative Knitters
Expand the range of your creative fiber projects by adding in felted wool shapes. Learn simple ways to felt wool roving into sheets, balls , ropes and more. Then use the felted pieces to spice up your next one of a kind creation. We will play with felting wool and explore ways to incorporate them into our knitting. The wool can be stitched, beaded and embellished to add spark and fun. Use the felt as a base for a bag, or garment, or embellish something you have already knit. Let your imagination go wet and wild!
Creative Textiles: Weaving fabric off loom using a water soluble base
COLOR created by hand dying a collection of silk fabrics in your personal pallet; We will use Colorhue dyes and simple color blending techniques. CONNECT the fabric after you cut or tear in strips to be used as warp and weft. Laying the strips out on the water soluble base we will explore options for creating unique textiles. Weave, sprinkle, mosaic, collage. From lacy and ethereal to solid and formidable your new textile can be constructed into a garment , worn as a scarf or wrap or used as wall art.
Paper or Plastic: Knitting a "Green" bag with recycled materials
Celebrate our connection to planet earth as we explore knitting with recycled materials. In this ecologically green workshop we will explore different paper and plastic products as knitting materials. Create a one of a kind bag to take to the farmers market, the beach, or to use in your studio. Combine colorful materials into a useful container and have fun recycling at the same time.
