I am so delighted to support the Global Art Project and will be sponsoring a workshop and community event here in Santa Barbara this March I met Katherine Josten, the founder, years ago and have enjoyed participating in this project over the last 10 years. Here is a little bit about the project. I invite you to visit the web site for more info. And please don't hesitate to contact me with questions. I have registration forms at the studio. Please note the dates for the workshops and exhibit here at pebble in the pond art studio.
The Global Art Project is an International Art Exchange for Peace.
Here's how it works: Participants create a work of art in any medium, expressing their vision of global peace and goodwill. The art is displayed locally in each participant's community. Global Art Project then organizes an international exchange by matching participants. The exchange occurs April 23-30 biennially, resulting in thousands of people sending messages of Peace around the world at one time — visions of unity simultaneously encircle the Earth.
How to Participate:
Registration for the next exchange in April 2012 is now open. The deadline is February 29, 2012.
First, register by February 29, 2012.
GAP will match you with a participant. Participants in the US are required to include a minimum $15 donation for individuals and $20 donation for groups.
March 2012: Create a work of art expressing your personal vision of global peace and goodwill.
March 3: Art with Heart Workshop at pebble in the pond art studio from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm.
Create your own colorful Peace banner using fabric paints on silk. Stamp, stencil or print expressions of love, peace and joy on your hand dyed silk banner. You may want to use this as your GAP exchange or display it at home.
March 31: Exhibit your art work at pebble in the pond art studio. Gather for a celebration of peace and share your art work with the community from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.
April 23 - 30, 2012: Exchange your art with the person or group with whom you've been matched. The art you receive will be yours to keep, and likewise, the art you send off will be kept as a gift of global friendship.
